Men - The New Online Shopaholics
Although it's widely believed that ladies are much more likely to be shopaholics than their male counterparts, recent research shows that men may actually be replacing women as the most frequent online shoppers.
Whether it's a bid to avoid the hustle and bustle of high street shopping, a manly fascination of all things digital, or a quest for greater variety, men are increasingly choosing to click and buy purchases from the comfort of their home (or, in many cases, their workplace!) and according to some studies, they're spending more than women too. In particular, eCommerce research has shown that men are choosing to mainly pick up electronic and media items online, and a growing number are also opting to buy men's designer clothing online too. This is no real surprise as high streets in even the most cosmopolitan areas can sometimes often offer extremely limited ranges of clothing, footwear and accessories for men in comparison to the endless ranges available for women, so for those looking for a greater selection from top brands without the hassle of queues, online shopping is the answer.
According to some online shopping experts, men also prefer to shop for men's designer clothing from online stores that are specifically geared towards their gender, rather than sift through irrelevant women's apparel and promos, and they're less likely to be hung up on the feel of fabrics, making the convenience of online shopping an even more attractive route to picking up the latest threads.
Dedicated men's stores are also much more likely to carry ranges and labels that gentlemen prefer, in styles that are in-keeping with current trends but still very wearable and in some cases, practical too. Leading online stores for men are also savvy enough to offer full selections of everything from socks and swimming shorts to long-sleeve shirts and ties. This enables men, often thought to be creatures of habit, to easily pick up all the clothes they need - whether it's for a quick getaway to the beach or a complete wardrobe overhaul - from just one site instead of browsing and hopping from one store to the next.
With such positive reasons for online shopping, it's little wonder that more and more men are choosing to do it online than ever before, and with internet sales continuing to grow year on year, it looks like a trend that will continue to catch on.
